If you practise without an account

Nothing leaves your device. Your scores, personal bests and tricky keys are kept in this browser's own storage. They are never sent to us. You can erase them any time from My progress.

If you make an account

An account exists for one reason: so your progress can follow you to another device. We store only:

• the made-up username you chose (please do not use your real name);
• a scrambled form of your password and of your rescue phrase, which cannot be turned back into the originals;
• for each round: which drill it was, the date, words per minute, accuracy, how long it took, and a count of which keys were missed;
• your best score for each drill;
• the date you made the account and the date you last used it;
• a short-lived counter of wrong password tries, to slow down guessing;
• how many talents you have earned in total, how many you earned today, and that date;
• which unlockable items you have unlocked and which ones you are using;
• counts for your game collections, such as how many stones are in your wall.

That is the complete list. There is nowhere in the system to put anything else.

Account information is kept in a database located in the United States (Oregon). If you practise without an account, nothing is stored there at all.

Talents and unlocks

Talents are points for careful practice. They cannot be bought with money, sold, traded or seen by anyone else. If you practise without an account, your talents and unlocks stay in this browser and are erased when you clear it or sign out.

What we never collect

• Your name, email address, school, grade, age, birthday or location. We do not ask for them and have no place to store them.
• What you type. Only the scores from a round are kept, never the keystrokes or the text.
• Your IP address or details about your device. The app does not record them, even to limit password guessing.
• The time of day you practised. Practice is dated by calendar day only.

No tracking, no advertising, no third parties

There are no analytics, no advertising, no social media buttons and no outside scripts or fonts. Your browser is instructed to contact this site and nothing else. The only cookies are the two that keep you signed in, and they exist only if you sign in.

Class verses from a teacher

When a teacher shares a class verse list, the verses travel inside the link itself, in the part of a web address that browsers do not send to servers, or in a file. They are saved in your browser only. We never receive them.

The company that hosts this site

Every website is delivered by a hosting company, and delivering a page means its servers see the internet address the request came from. Our host may keep short-lived technical logs for security and reliability. The app itself never reads, stores or uses that information.

Deleting your account

You can erase your account yourself on the Account page. It removes your username and every score stored with it, immediately and for good. Accounts that have not been used for 18 months are erased automatically.

Because we do not know who you are, we cannot look up an account for you, reset a password by email, or tell anyone which account is yours. If you forget your password, your rescue phrase is the only way back in.

For teachers and parents

The app is designed so that a school can use it without sharing any student information. Please ask students to choose usernames that do not identify them. There is no teacher view of student accounts.
